So, a little over two months ago, I graduated Amherst College with no specific ambitions, goals, or plans for the future.

So I bought a one-way ticket to Jordan, and started this weblog.

Posts on The Unfettered Camel will fall into three categories–sometimes overlapping:

1) Diary. This weblog serves in part as an account of my experience here, living in Amman with my friend Jacqui, and as a means of keeping friends and family back home up to date with the goings-on of my life here. Those readers who do not know me personally, but land here during your journeys through the blogosphere, may not find these mundane details particularly interesting and are invited to skip over posts in this category.

2) Views. From time to time I have something to say about an aspect of Jordanian society, culture, or politics that I (and perhaps you as well) find compelling. Posts in this category will generally be more topical and much less personal. Although at times the “views” arise from moments recorded in the “diary,” I will attempt as much as possible to treat these issues in separate, distinct posts.

3) News. Like any blogger, I have opinions on what goes on in the world, and my reactions to events here in Jordan, back home in the States, and elsewhere in the world may find their way into this blog every so often; these posts will fall into the “news” category.

So now you know where you are, and that’s always a good thing. Ahlan wa sahlan. Enjoy.
